MEET DIKELEDI MOKONE
Dikeledi Mokone is a South African born and bred from a township called Soweto and currently based in Johannesburg. She is passionate about self-discovery, healing and extending kindness in every space that she finds herself in.
A 200hr Vinyasa international certified yoga teacher committed to making yoga and meditation accessible to people, especially to places where it is not commonly practiced. She believes that knowing or discovering oneself is a pathway to living a full life while reaching maximum potential.
Like most, her first encounter with Yoga practice was through social media and some Youtube videos. Dikeledi has since used Yoga to stretch and relax her body. Later on, succumbed to a knee injury from running forcing her to think of alternatives to keeping fit. It was then that the practice of Yoga became her solace. An overdose of weekday training runs and weekend races soon took a toll on her body, from the knees and affecting calf muscles. She then started the journey of healing, both physical and emotional with the aid of vinyasa yoga. Vinyasa commonly known as “flow yoga” is a style of yoga characterized by stringing postures together, moving from one posture to another seamlessly using breath.
She then discovered a Kundalini Yoga class that was offered on social media and experimented with it. Kundalini is defined in Vedantic culture as energy that lies dormant at the base of the spine until it is activated and channeled upward through the chakras in the process of spiritual perfection. She was hooked from the first day as it further helped her with rehabilitation and after a year and half she could move without any body pains.
The healing from the online yoga classes has thus prompted Dikeledi to create a platform as a way to extend knowledge in the teachings of yoga. Classes are available both online on Zoom and in person at Germiston lake. Come join Dikeledi Mokone on a pursuit of making yoga accessible.
